Having spent most of 2019 creating mixed reality productions right on the cutting edge of current technology, we wanted to explore reaching out to more people with Augmented Reality. Some of the most popular and exciting innovation with augmented reality of the moment is found on social media filters, like Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook. These platforms are using AR not only to entertain but also educate and inspire.
We wanted to test our creative and development team with an internal sprint, learning quickly how to create stories for these platforms. Keeping close to our heritage, we created filters to spread information about causes close to our hearts, such as plastic pollution and wildlife devistation.
Facebook’s Spark AR offers us a unique opportunity to spread important messages across social media in engaging and visually stunning ways. By creating overlays that immersed users in the stories, we could drive home important messages in an impactful way.
Our oceans are filling with our rubbish. The equivalent of a truckload of plastic enters the ocean every minute, ensnaring wildlife and threatening an already fragile ecosystem. We created Caught in Plastic (above) to bring this tragedy closer to home. Find yourself trapped by litter falling into your home.
The climate emergency is a growing threat. In the face of such a colossal disaster, it can be hard to know where to start. But every small step towards reducing your impact on the planet helps. Our Daily Green Pledge (left) gives you a way to publicly declare one easy change you can make daily to help save our planet.
At the start of 2020, Australia faced one of the most devastating ecological crises with the Australian Wildfires. Many people took to social media to spread information and links to help. We created the Help Australian Wildfires filter (right) to give visuals to the messages, increasing the urgency and impact of the statements.
